Welcome to Africa Mission Alliance
Spring is here and I hope a small reminder of Christmas will not hurt. After three months of being held up at DHL in NYC, the pictures of our Christmas party in Rwanda arrived a few days ago. I would like to share a few of the highlights with you.
December 22nd was a special day for many orphans and widows in Rwanda who had never received a Christmas gift in their life. Hundreds of friends like you gave up to $15,000 in Christmas gifts in honor or in memory of your friends and family. The gifts were distributed in one of the biggest Christmas give-away parties the small town of Butare, Rwanda has ever seen.
The Honored Guests of the party included all of the children in our child sponsorship program and their guardians, graduates from AMA's tailoring school, and street children. God's love was so present at the party as hundreds of needy children celebrated the birth of Love Himself.
The Festivities kicked off with performances from our children's choir and dance troupe. The children's drama team followed with a very creative and entertaining interpretation of Jesus' birth story. These highlights were followed by a ceremony honoring the graduates of our tailoring school with certificates of completion. Soon afterwards, the sweet smell of Rwanda's best Christmas food filled the air. As each guest was served, one could not help but see the love that hundreds of supporters like you were sharing from a distance. The street children especially enjoyed indulging in their very own bottle of soda.
After the big tasty meal, the guests were surprised with a Big Give, thanks to your generous contributions. We were able to purchase life-changing gifts for widows and orphans and make it a Christmas they will live to remember. Hundreds of gifts including sewing machines, goats, text books, and other small gifts for children were handed out to every one who attended. Everyone was so surprised and you could here voices in the background as recipients made remarks about their exciting day.
Here is a Video that captures some of the highlights of the day. We hope that the faces and smiles in the video will help show you what a big difference your gift made. Look close; you may even catch a glimpse of your sponsored child.
Thank you so much for bringing the "Good News" of Christmas to Rwanda this past year. We hope that you will join us again this coming Christmas to give presents as great as the season - presents that change lives.
God bless you!
